About the 10U PAL ASTROS - RED
PAL Astros are a part of the Annapolis-based Peninsula Athletic League Baseball Program. The Team consists of nine and ten year olds competing in the Anne Arundel County U10-A Mustang Division and the County's U10 Friday Night League, one of two U10 PAL baseball teams to do so this year.
The goal of our team is to provide a safe and productive environment that enables children to learn and apply the principles of teamwork, discipline, dedication, and sportsmanship. We facilitate the development of strength and character in every child that participates while teaching the fundamentals of the great game of baseball.
We are sustained by the efforts of volunteers who display an extraordinary amount of commitment and hard work, ensuring that our team is a positive influence in the lives of our children. We also strive to provide a service to our community by providing a healthy outlet for children and opportunities for the community to unite.
Meet the Coaches
The Astros will be managed by John Elstner, who lives just down the street from PAL Park. This will be Coach Elstner's 5th year of head coaching baseball, his second year at PAL, and also serves as assistant coach for a PAL U11 tournament team. He is "coach registered" with the Anne Arundel County Parks and Recreation Department.
Coach played American Legion Baseball in his hometown of Pittsburgh until he was 19, mostly at shortstop and 3rd base. His senior year high school team was undefeated Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Champions. (those were the days...)
These days, Coach Elstner is all about attitude, good solid effort, and continually building on the lessons his players learned last Spring and Fall in the areas of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Mental Toughness, and of course, Baseball Fundamentals. He is expecting great things to come for this team this season.
